Fourth defeat on the Trot

Ely City A 1 - 3 Comberton United

Ely conceded two weak goals in the first half. The first an easy header won by the Comberton striker from Stuart Rolling's (goal keeper) goal kick, straight into the path of his striking partner who rounded Stuart. The second was equally as lame as Ely failed to clear the ball and then left a line of Comberton players queing up to take a strike.

Things look liked they may improve in the second half. The referee awarded Ely a lucky penalty for a foul on Luke Fretwell. Matt Brodie stepped up to pass the ball into the net. I can only imagine that the keeper had fallen asleep due to lack of action!

Ely were putting on the pressure and it did feel at points that they may nick a late draw. However Ely had some slack defending saw both strikers bearing down on goal with only Gareth Arter and Stuart to beat, which they did. The game finished 3-1 to Comberton and Ely really need to pick themselves up from this slump in results.
